BARBOS FINISH 4TH IN THE COUNTRY, CLOSING OUT THE 2022 SUMMER

Now that’s downward pressure ^^^

The Barbos were victorious in their first two pool play games against Detroit Tradesman and Westside Ronin. The tied their final game with National Athletic Village (NAV) 14-14 after coming back in the second half. The theme of the day was physicality in the breakdown. The Barbos worked hard to build the phase count in attack, and by the 5th or 6th phase, they were able to spot gaps and capitalize. Devarius “Beanie” Miller made his mark on the score line, finishing multiple tries under the post. The young player was electric all day.

They faced Life West in the QF round and squeaked through a 7-5 scrappy match. It was onto the semis and east coast 7’s rivals Old Blue was the matchup for the next round. Unfortunately, Old Blue was spectacular at playing lights out 7’s. They defeated the Barbos 21-7 by playing the exact style of 7’s that we so often enjoy … winning kick offs, starving the other team of possession, and rarely making mistakes.

Old Blue went on to play NAV 7’s (National Athletic Village) in the final, with NAV taking the honors.

The Barbos ended with a tough loss against Schuylkill River RFC. The Philadelphia based club was simply better in every aspect of the 3rd place final, and the Barbos settled for a 4th place finish.

While we always strive to bring home the 1st place hardware each and every tournament we play, finishing 4th in the country is no shy feat. The entire player pool, coaching staff, training staff, executive council, and most importantly, our club’s network of Old Boys and fans …. we thank you for a massive effort this summer.

A True Team Effort

The club returns to it’s competitive XV’s schedule for the fall of 2022, where we will look to field not one, but TWO competitive sides.

First game is Saturday, Sept 24th, where the Barbos will square up against Boulder RFC in the Rocky Mountain Rugby Premiership, and the Barbos vs. Queen City RFC in the Rocky Mountain Rugby Championship.
