BARBOS PREP FOR A MASSIVE OCTOBER
Your Denver Barbarians gear up for a massive month of rugby as the team prepares for 8 games in 4 weeks. The club’s success since the 2020 global pandemic has created a wealth of opportunities for players to compete in not one, but TWO full competitive sides. This surge in participation has allowed our club to develop more players, deliver on more game time, and give the BarboFam what they’ve always wanted …. MORE RUGBY!
Even better, both games will be back to back at the same location this Saturday. Our 2nd XV will kick off against Queen City RFC at 4pm on Infinity Turf. The Barbos have not lost to Queen City since the return from the pandemic, and will look to keep their win streak in tact. But it won’t come easy. Queen City have started their September on fire with three straight wins against Fort Collins, Boulder and the Denver Highlanders. Can the men in Green & White start their October on the front foot against a red hot QC? Get your asses down to Infinity Park Turf for a Saturday clash that’s sure to produce some fireworks.
The squad named for this match features a trio of rookies in the forward pack all looking to make an impact. Bryan Todman (Palm Beach Panthers) has already shown he can punch with the big dogs in his first two matches, and Michael Oliver (Colorado School of Mines) & Dakota Southworth (Iowa Central Tritons) make their debut in the loose forwards.

In the 2nd match of the day, your Denver Barbarians 1st XV take on Boulder RFC. The last time these two teams played was a hard fought win for the men in Green & White. But the Barbos have learned that nothing is given on the rugby pitch … it must be earned. After slipping up earlier this fall against Park City and losing a shootout 45-35, the lads will look to set things right against Boulder.
The lineup features key veterans in old positions and new. Joe Goldbloom will drive the engine room in the #5 jersey, and Jack Miller will slot into a new spot, anchoring the backs at outside center. The game will kick off at 6pm, a perfect twilight atmosphere for what will surely be a game of tenacity and brawn. Bring your autumn scarves and hot coco for a fantastic fall clash of Rocky Mountain Rugby!
