MEET CAMPBELL JOHNSTONE

Maryland born and bred (crab cakes and rugby), Campbell “Soup” Johnstone lives and breathes the sport. Size, power and grace goes into each step when he takes the pitch. His passing is subpar to none, putting the ball on a rope even as he straightens and challenges the defensive line. He’s a 14 minute man in the 7’s game, and his gas tank is never empty.

But talent and size aren’t what make a great player, it’s how the gel with the team. Does their contribution off the pitch lift the team up? … Soup’s chuckle and childish laughter are enough to bring up even the dampest of spirits. His smile is infectious and his play is scrappy. He’ll be looking to put teammates into space as the link man, but won’t back down from a “run it straight” challenge.

He’s played professionally in the MLR, but his best rugby seems to come out when he dons the sacred Green & White. Catch Soups this weekend sitting down defenders and creating confusion for team defense decisions. … Is he passing, is he running …??? Smack. Soups under the posts.

Catch him this weekend on The Rugby Network
