MEET MICKEY BATEMAN

If you don’t know Mickey Bateman, then you clearly haven’t been to a Barbo 7’s outing in the past two years. He’s the loudest voice on the field, bar none. And that’s extremely important in rugby, especially 7’s. There’s no place on the pitch for hushed voices and low tempo. Mickey loves to spice things up on the pitch.

Speaking of spice, have you tried his mouth-watering 12-hour smoked beef brisket, candied pork belly, sesame slaw, and pickled carrot and celery lunch combo? If not, give Mickey’s Meals a shout as you won’t regret it!

Back to the rugby… Mickey is quick on his feet, able to step left or right at full speed, or lull you to sleep with a seemingly slow-motion goose-step before speeding around you and straight to the try line. It’s truly great stuff to see.

Speaking of stuff, his stuffed chicken thigh which he fills with his signature herb cream cheese, comes served on a bed of butter and garlic mash, a generous drizzle of mushroom gravy, and a side of tarragon lettuce salad! Honestly, it is something else! 10/10, highly recommend!

But not to get sidetracked, he can pass off both feet, and kick with each hand. He’s physical, and plays well above his weight. His aggression is impressive, especially when he goes full maggot … ;) !

Whether balling out on the rugby pitch, or rolling meatballs in the kitchen— Mickey brings passion, skill, creativity, and a wee funny accent. He’s the complete package in both realms, and a leader for the Barbos 2022 7’s squad!
